We take pride in the achievements of all our children. For the teachers in Star Al Twar, every child is an individual with their own unique needs and we all work together to ensure each child is fully supported to achieve their full potential.
Whilst academic excellence is important, I also believe that children need to be critical thinkers and problem solvers and confident in their own abilities. Holistic development is very essential, so children are empowered to develop their leadership qualities from a young age. Ms. Claire Gilmore, our Foundation Head, sets high standards from FS2. Our Primary Head, Ms. Laura Dobbs, takes this a step further by running young Leaders as Mentors for the little ones. Yoga, mindfulness, and the promotion of healthy lifestyles are what they model.

School Principal

Having lived in Dubai for 40 years, I am proud to have been witness to (and a part of) the astounding growth and development of Dubai as a global city that is welcoming to many different cultures and religions. Star is an inclusive school that celebrates the diversity of its students through mutual respect and understanding of Islamic values and Emirati culture and heritage and observes all festivals that are important to all our children, including Hag el Leila, Diwali, Eid, and Christmas.
Our relationship with our parents is outstanding, and my door, along with the doors of all our valued staff, is always open for parents, teachers and our ‘Starlights’, for they are the light and soul of the school.
We want every child at Star to leave at the end of each school day with a smile - and we do everything we can, including working closely with our parents to address any issues that may have arisen during the day, to ensure this.

Our relationship

On requests from our parents, I took a leap and extended the school to Key Stage 4 in September 2017. Under the strong guidance of our Secondary Head. Mr. Kyle Knott, the first cohort sat for their GCSEs in June 2019 with outstanding results, with one of our Emirati students achieving top marks in English as a second language. Star Al Twar is also one of the very few schools in Dubai to offer BTEC qualifications.

This year's DSIB inspection left the school feeling very proud of the commitment of the staff and the achievements of our Starlights, when they were told that quality of lessons was very good to outstanding. Smiles from everyone - in fact, Star Al Twar is known as ‘The Happy School’ - children love Star Al Twar, because everyone gets treated fairly and kindly, and we are a family that includes everyone.

In February 2022 we acquired new school premises for Secondary and are moving ahead to offer Post-16 qualifications and Key Stage 5 (Sixth Form, which is Year 12 and 13).
