Secondary Scholarship Programme

Star International School, Al Twar provides students with bespoke International Learning Opportunities that ensure students have the academic knowledge, skills, and competencies to succeed at and attend their university of choice.  

The Star International School, Al Twar Secondary Scholarship Programme is designed to recognise and foster excellence in the classroom and beyond. Our scholarship programme aims to attract and support talented students who show a passion for, and potential in, their chosen field.

Our bespoke programme aligns with our core values. We believe a Star student is Skilful, Tolerant, Ambitious and Reflective, and we enable our young people to explore their interests and talents while harnessing their exceptional potential in areas of strength.

Pupils enrolled in our Secondary Scholarship Programme will be given a scholarship covering up to 75% of their tuition fees.

Scholarship recipients will also receive an enhanced enrichment programme. An indicative list is detailed below:

  1. Bespoke, ‘invitation-only’ access to visits, workshops, and lectures.
  2. An allocated learning mentor, and regular mentor meetings.
  3. Access to enhanced skill development workshops.
  4. Regular target reviews with relevant senior staff.

Who can apply?

  • Students from all nationalities can apply BUT must be fluent in English (written and verbal).
  • New students applying at Star International School, Al Twar.
  • Scholars entering Years 10 and 12 for the  2024-25 academic year.

What is the criteria for applying?

To apply for one of our Secondary Scholarships a student must:

  1. Submit a one-minute video introducing themselves and explaining why they deserve a scholarship.
  2. Have a certificate of completion/release from their current school along with a letter of good conduct.
  3. Have outstanding academic results from their current school report. Typically, this will mean:
    • CAT4 SAS Score of 120 or higher*.
    • GLPT - Stanine 8 or above in core subjects (English, Maths, and Science). Or,
    • GCSE - Minimum of, or predicted, Grade 7, 8, or 9 (grade A or A*) in English, Maths, and Science.
  4. Provide an example of creative artwork.
  5. Provide photographs or videos of sporting/performance excellence.
  6. Provide examples of community engagement and development.

*Where a student is entering Dubai without a CAT 4 or GLPT assessment, this will be completed as part of the scholarship assessment process.

A student with slightly lower academic credentials than stated 
may still be considered if they have other, relevant, strengths such as sporting and/or musical excellence.

Process

Step 1: Complete the scholarship application:

  • Complete the scholarship online form.

Step 2: Candidate screening and interview:

  • Successful candidates will then be contacted to come in for an assessment at Star International Schoo, Al Twar. This will also include a personal interview, which is an important step in the scholarship process.

Step 3:

  • The school’s Secondary Scholarship Committee shall review all the candidates and successful candidates will be notified.  

Step 4 (applicable for Year 12 scholars):

  • Students submit their examination results.

Throughout their scholarship, a student must:

  • Display the school’s values daily. 
  • Maintain outstanding levels of academic progress throughout the scholarship.
  • Represent the school in at least one external academic competition, annually, and where possible more.  
  • Meet all requirements of the student expectations and behaviour policies (available on request).  

All Scholarships are awarded on a discretionary basis by the Secondary Scholarship Committee whose decision is final.

Scholarships will be for two years initially.
