Lisa grew up in the Welsh valleys and studied in England. She holds a BA in Media Arts and English, an MSc in Educational Leadership, PGCE and NPQH. Lisa began her teaching career in 2000 and joined Nord Anglia Education in 2006, taking leadership roles in Shanghai, Beijing and Hong Kong. In 2019, she became Principal of Al Shohub Private School in Abu Dhabi. Currently, Lisa is Vice Principal at Kings’ School Al Barsha. She is a Lead Improvement Partner with COBIS and facilitates NPQSL/NPQH for leaders across the Middle East. Lisa enjoys running and has completed multiple marathons.
Laura grew up by the sea in Wales and earned a Bachelor of Education in Primary Education at the University of Gloucestershire. She moved to the UAE in 2010, teaching in various schools, with a passion for inclusion. Laura is Head of Inclusion at Star, Al Twar and is completing her NPQH. She joined Star, Al Twar in 2021, first as a Year 6 teacher and Deputy Head, then becoming Head of Primary. Laura enjoys travelling, living in the UAE and attending dance classes, which she has loved since childhood.
David, from Liverpool, England, worked as a civil servant and at Liverpool Airport before studying English Literature at the Open University. After qualifying as a teacher in 2015, he moved to Dubai in 2018 and has worked at Star, Al Twar, as an English teacher, Head of English, Lead Practitioner, Assistant Principal and now Head of Secondary. He completed his NPQSL in 2023. David is passionate about supporting teachers and improving student outcomes. A Liverpool FC fan, he loves English literature, music, film, travel and fitness, and is a member of the Philip Larkin Society.
Agata, originally from Poland, moved to London at seven. She holds a BSc in Psychology, a PGCE from Loughborough University and an NPQSL. Agata became a teacher in 1994, working in Leicester before moving to Dubai in 2014. She has taught across all primary year groups and is passionate about literacy. As Literacy Lead, she fosters a love of reading in children. Agata enjoys reading in both English and Polish and loves spending time outdoors, especially at the beach, when the weather is not too hot.
Sean, from the UK, holds a BA in Business Management, PGCE and qualifications in School Inspection, Safeguarding and Leadership (NPQSL). With over 15 years of experience, he has taught business and vocational courses and managed schools in the UK and UAE. Sean joined Star Al Twar in 2019 as Assistant Head of Secondary - Pastoral, focusing on student progress through GCSEs and A Levels. He enjoys travel, fine dining and professional development, ensuring students receive the best education possible.
