Leadership, diplomacy, and global citizenship took centre stage at Star International School, Al Twar as the school proudly hosted its second SISAT Model United Nations (MUN), welcoming delegates from more than 10 schools across the UAE for three days of collaboration, debate, and global dialogue.

Developing Leadership and Critical Thinking Skill

The student-led conference provided a platform for young leaders to explore international issues, exchange perspectives, and develop essential skills including critical thinking, communication, negotiation, and teamwork. Through meaningful discussions and committee sessions, students gained valuable experience in tackling real world challenges while building confidence as future leaders.

A highlight of the event was the attendance of Mr. Rory Galvin, Regional Learning Director at International Schools Partnership (ISP), who inspired delegates to lead with purpose, embrace new perspectives, and recognise the positive impact they can have on their communities.

SISAT MUN 2026 reflected Star International School, Al Twar's commitment to developing curious, confident learners who think deeply, collaborate effectively, and make a positive difference in the world. The event brought the school's STAR Learner Attributes to life, particularly as students worked together respectfully, considered diverse viewpoints, and engaged with global issues.

Student Leadership at the Heart of SISAT MUN 2026

The success of the conference was driven by the dedication and leadership of the student organising team, led by Year 13 student Jinan. Her commitment and organisation played a central role in delivering an engaging and impactful event for delegates across the UAE.

Commenting on the experience, Jinan said:

‘Leading SISAT MUN 2026 has been an incredible opportunity to put into practice the skills and values I have developed at Star, Al Twar. The experience strengthened my confidence, leadership, and problem-solving abilities while teaching me the importance of collaboration and resilience. The support I received from my teachers and school leaders encouraged me to take on new challenges and believe in my ability to make a positive impact. I am proud that we were able to create a platform where students could share ideas, learn from one another, and develop as future global citizens.’

Preparing Students for Success Beyond the Classroom

At Star International School, Al Twar, learning extends beyond the classroom through opportunities that encourage students to lead, collaborate, and apply their learning in meaningful ways. Events such as SISAT MUN support students in developing the skills, confidence, and global perspective needed for future success within our secondary school community and through a wide range of student leadership opportunities.

As the school continues its mission of Guiding Stars to Bright Futures, it looks forward to creating even more opportunities for students to grow as responsible global citizens and confident leaders.
